Laura Constable

RESEARCH Associate
FACULTY OF MEDICINE, IMPERIAL COLLEGE LONDON

Laura completed her PhD in Immunology at King’s College London after obtaining a Medical Research Council funded studentship, under the supervision of Professor Nick Powell. Her doctoral studies focused on the cellular and molecular basis for perianal fistulizing Crohn’s disease (pCD), particularly its immunological basis. This work has been recognised at national and international conferences and was awarded a best abstract award at the 17th Congress of the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO) in 2022. She’s also been involved in validating the potential of a novel predictive biomarker of response to cell therapy in pCD. Joining Imperial College in 2021, Laura has continued her research into the immune involvement in pCD and is also investigating the potential of small molecule inhibitors in IBD.

Research interests: Using spatial transcriptomics and single-cell sequencing to study the fistula microenvironment in pCD and understand the effect of JAK inhibitors in IBD.
