John graduated from the University of Cambridge medical school, and then held posts as an Academic Foundation Programme trainee and an Academic Clinical Fellow in Gastroenterology at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and Norwich Research Park. During this time, he was involved in both wet-lab and dry-lab research under the supervision of Prof Alastair Watson and Dr Tamas Korcsmaros, which sparked his interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He is currently pursuing a PhD under the joint supervision of Prof Nick Powell, Dr Tamas Korcsmaros, and Dr Petter Brodin. He aims to harness multi-omics data from ulcerative colitis patients to identify predictors of response to advanced therapies through the THAMES-IBD cohort, followed by in vitro validation using human organoid models.

Research interests: IBD, precision medicine, intestinal organoids, systems biology.
